What stays on your machine
All your project data - PDFs, measurements, finishes, exports - lives
locally on your machine in .qtdb files. We never see,
store, or process your drawings or quantities on our servers.
What gets sent to Alves Rowe Ltd
- Activation + refresh: your email, activation key, and a machine fingerprint, sent to our licence Worker (Cloudflare, hosted in the EU). Used to confirm your subscription is active and to bind one licence per machine.
- Crash reports: if Kestrel crashes outright, an anonymised error report is sent automatically via Sentry. Contains stack traces, NOT your project data.
- Feedback (opt-in): when you click the "Send feedback" button. Contains the message you type plus app version and recent log activity (NO project data). You can untick "Include diagnostics" to send just the message.
What gets sent to Anthropic (BYOK AI, opt-in only)
If you enable an AI feature and provide your own Anthropic API key, the relevant page of your PDF is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. You pay Anthropic directly; we never see your key or your drawings. Each AI feature has its own on/off toggle - if all are off (the default), no AI calls happen.
